Schools in St. Mary's County, Maryland are developing restrictions on hugs in elementary schools.  Under the rule, an adult would be banned from hugging a student unless it is their son or daughter.  The ban would include grandparents, aunts and uncles.  

According to the "Examiner," a committee of parents, teachers and school administrators developed the rule in addition to others that require visitors to have their picture taken when they enter the school.  Another rule would prohibit siblings from visiting students at school.  Superintendent Michael Martirano says in the wake of the Newtown, Connecticut school massacre there is a need to know who's in the school and why.  The rules may still be adjusted before becoming policy.
