The majority of American employees- 70%- feel “emotionally disconnected” from their work, with many admitting to being “actively disengaged.” Emotional connection to work was measured by asking questions like whether they recently received praise, whether they feel their opinions matter and whether they have the opportunity to do what they do best on the job. Only 30% say they feel engaged with their work. Not only does this low morale make it pretty tough to get out of bed every morning, but lack of emotional connection to your job can also result in reduced productivity. Overall, women are more committed to their work than men, and employees in lower-paying fields are more likely to be disengaged. No surprise there.
