In a move that took many fans and participants by surprise, the International Olympic Committee voted Tuesday to take down wrestling from its schedule of “core sports” for the 2020 Olympics. One of the oldest competitions in the Games, wrestling has been an Olympic sport since the ancient origins of the games in Greece, and has been part of every modern Olympics since they began in 1896. An IOC spokesman said the decision was not based on “what’s wrong with wrestling, it is what’s right with the (other) 25 core sports.”

Hey, at least we'll still have table tennis and sailing.
