Conditions seemed to be deteriorating aboard the Carnival cruise ship that has been adrift for days off the Yucatan Peninsula. Passengers were sending messages to love ones, reporting that there is water and feces all over the floor and that passengers are getting sick and throwing up. Passengers have also had limited access to bathrooms, food and hot coffee. A fire broke out in the ship’s engine room Sunday, knocking out the ship’s propulsion system and stranding it in the Gulf of Mexico. The ship left Texas last Thursday on a scheduled four-day cruise. Two tugboats arrived on the scene yesterday and will be towing the ship to Mobile, Alabama. It should arrive in Mobile by tomorrow.
