Justin Timberlake doesn't see why his pop star status should prevent him from recording tracks that are longer than the radio-friendly three minutes.

In a UK radio interview, he spoke about his latest single, the eight-minute "Mirrors."  He said there's no reason why artists these days should be discouraged from letting a song go long.

He said, "If Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin can do ten minute songs ... why can't we?"

Timberlake explained that while recording his upcoming album The 20/20 Experience, he wanted to cut songs however he liked and figure out the radio edits later.

So far, "Mirrors" hasn't gained much momentum on the Billboard charts, but it did break the top ten in the U.K. after JT performed it at last week's BRIT Awards.
