Just three months after the reality TV star was first seen cuddling the white Persian teacup kitty, Mercy, the reality TV star has shared the sad news that the cat, which was a gift from boyfriend Kanye West, has died.
"It is with deep sadness that I have to tell you all that my kitten, Mercy, has passed away," Kardashian posted in her blog on Friday. "My heart is completely broken."
In her post, the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star detailed how she had actually given the cat away because she realized she was allergic to it. Because "I couldn't play with her or give her as much attention as I wanted to," the 32-year-old, who had dogs when she was married to Kris Humphries, sent Mercy to live with her sister Khloe Kardashian Odom's assistant, Sydney, who had recently lost a pet. However, soon after moving to her new home, Mercy developed a "stomach problem" that a vet later diagnosed as "rare stomach cancer." The illness is often associated with breeding.
"There was nothing we could do for her. Poor little Mercy died the very next day," Kardashian wrote. "Mercy was a gentle and loving kitten and we are all going to miss her so much. Thanks to Sydney for making Mercy's short life one filled with love."
