The E. Coli Outbreak Has Turned Deadly

If you have romaine lettuce in your fridge and it isn’t locally grown, you may want to throw it out.

The E. coli outbreak suspected to be linked to romaine lettuce from Arizona is turning deadly. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the first death associated with the outbreak. The CDC has identified 23 more cases, bringing the total to 121 people who have become ill since the outbreak began in March possibly from the lettuce grown in the Yuma, Arizona area.

The outbreak has been reported in 25 states now, and 52 people have been hospitalized with 14 suffering kidney failure. An investigation is ongoing into the exact source of the lettuce.Source: USA Today
